A florist in Scarborough provided floral arrangements for an Elton John concert on Sunday.

Jodie Newton, who runs Jasmine Florist in Scarborough, received a call out of the blue asking her to provide flowers for the dressing room and hospitality suite the singer used at his open-air concert in the town.

Jodie said: “The biggest name we’ve done flowers for previously was [local playwright] Alan Ayckbourn. We’ve done a number of his plays and opening nights. For the Elton John concert we had a phone call and then an email just enquiring really. The lady who contacted us said she just found us via our website.

“We did seven vase arrangements for his dressing room and one large, 60cm seasonal arrangement which was left entirely up to us. We used really light blue delphiniums, pale pink peonies and avalanche roses in a frosted vase. From what we can gather he was very happy with the flowers. The people who organised it were certainly pleased.”

Proof, if any further proof was needed, that all florists should have web sites!
