Two talented Surrey florists had the opportunity of a life time to demonstrate at the Chelsea Flower Show last week as part of the Merrist Wood College team.
Hazel Shaw, owner of Eden Blooms in Farnham, and Katherine West, of Wild Orchids in Farnborough, joined a 10-strong team of some of the country’s most talented florists to present a demonstration in the “Talking Flowers” arena.
Over 2,000 applications were received for just 30 slots and the girls were demonstrating alongside florists such as Simon Lycett and Judith Blacklock.
“I was so thrilled to be asked to represent Merrist Wood at Chelsea, it was an honour and privilege” said Katherine.
The girls helped create seven wedding bouquets through the ages including a full-size replica of Princess Diana’s wedding bouquet. Hazel said: “The Diana bouquet took over 24 hours to create and weighed over 16lbs.” Staff from both shops enjoyed a day out at Chelsea to support both Hazel and Katherine.
In this challenging financial climate both Katherine and Hazel work closely to ensure their talents and resources are pulled together to provide a dedicated service to their clients in the Farnham and Farnborough areas.
“The chance to share a stand at Chelsea has only strengthened our commercial bond” said Hazel.
