BFA Events Director Dennis van Wonderen appeared on BBC1’s coverage of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Wednesday 26 May, showing presenter Nicki Chapman how to create two arrangements, which she described as a “show-stopping floral fantasy from flowers that can be grown in Britain.”
Dennis took the opportunity to highlight the difficulties faced by British flower growers, saying: “The British growers really need to be supported. They’re finding it very hard at the moment.”
He described his first creation as a “summer country-garden basket”. For this, he started off with lady’s mantle, solomon’s seal, and eucalpyptus mixed with bear grass, before adding Pompeii lilies, lisianthus and Memory Lane roses. He then guided Nicki Chapman through a second arrangement using the same components, plus gypsophila.
The programme is available to watch using BBC iPlayer until 6 June here
