Taiwanese orchid growers are preparing for a royal celebration at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year.
In honour of last week’s wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton (now Duchess of Cambridge), the Taiwanese Orchid Growers’ Association will construct a model church on their stand, decorated with their finest orchids.
Last year TOGA presented the Queen with an orchid, “Fortune Saltzman”, as a gift. This year, the royal guests to the show will be presented with three unique orchids representative of Taiwan.
TOGA Secretary-general Ahby Tseng said: “The TOGA’s exhibition area will be quintupled to 91m2 this year. More than 2,000 orchids in 100 plus varieties, mostly indigenous Cattleya, Paphiopedilum and Phalaenopsis, will decorate the site, which will feature a church as a celebration of the royal wedding.”
