Interflora’s floral design exhibit at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show has been awarded a Gold medal in recognition of its creativity and artistic construction. The three-metre-tall installation, titled “Progression”, features spheres created from a variety of flowers, including hydrangeas, roses and carnations.

“Progression” was designed by award-winning Interflora florist David Ragg and staged within the Great Pavilion at the show. Ragg said: “I am delighted with the Gold medal and it is a testament to the hard work of the whole team. Our original concept was created to convey a love for change and the joy of embracing it and moving forward. This positive approach not only represents Interflora’s outlook today, but is a symbol of national optimism in a changing society.”

Six other medals have also been awarded to Interflora florists in this year’s RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year Awards. Clare Allen, of Skipps Florist, took Gold. Catherine Date, of Trugs Florist, and Tracey Griffin, of Sandra’s Florist were both awarded the Silver-Gilt Grenfell. Neil Whittaker, of Design Element, and Sarah Horne, of Sarah Horne Flowers, both achieved the Bronze Grenfell.

Rhys Hughes, President of Interflora, said: “Recognition by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for both “Progression” and our individual florists shows each visitor at Chelsea that Interflora has real expertise and flair for design; each and every one of our florists can create something truly spectacular. Every now and then we like to push the boundaries and test people’s perceptions of a brand that is now as much a part of British heritage as the Chelsea Flower Show itself.”

“Progression” can be seen in the Great Pavilion at Chelsea until Saturday 29 May.
