A florist in Erdington, near Birmingham, is holding a fund-raising day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Linda Osborne will turn her shop, Lu Lu’s Flowers, into a cafe for the day in support of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event on Wednesday 22 September.

Ms Osborne, with the help of her friend Margaret Coogan, are aiming to raise £1,000 through the sale of sandwiches and refreshments, as well as cakes donated by bakers Greggs and Firkins. Visitors to the shop will also be able to purchase tickets for a raffle with prizes including a 15lb turkey delivered in time for Christmas.

Macmillan Cancer Support organise their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event every September. This year the official event falls on Friday 24 September. Last year’s Coffee Morning raised £7.9m for the charity and, this year, the target is £8m.
